The International Budo University Europe Office was established in August 2003 in the Matsumae Budo Centre in Vienna, Austria, with the aim of promoting international friendship and goodwill through sports exchange and the introduction and spread of Japanese Budo and culture. In 2017, an academic exchange agreement was concluded with the Hungarian University of Sport Sciences, and on this occasion the centre moved to Budapest, Hungary, in April 2021, where it is developing various projects, including cooperation in Budo cultural exchange programmes, dispatching instructors to the Hungarian Kendo National Team, and hosting international exchanges with the International Budo University’s Kendo Club.

- Supporting the activities of faculty members and students visiting Europe from the International Budo University.

- Supporting and advising for those who wish to study or train at the International Budo University.
- Collection of information on Budo and sports in Europe.
The International Budo University was established in 1984 in Katsuura, Chiba Prefecture, with the aim of training internationally-active Japanese and foreign leaders in Japanese Budo and developing individuals who can play a leading role in the international and local communities. The founder, Shigeyoshi Matsumae, founded the International Budo University with the noble idea of respecting the traditional cultural values of Budo, spreading the peace concept throughout the world, and building world peace by deepening international friendship and goodwill, with the aim of developing significant human resources through Budo.
In addition to undergraduate and postgraduate study, the International Budo University offers a
one-year Budo Specialization Program, as well as short-term training programmes ranging from a few days to three months.

The IBU Europe office is located in the Hungarian Kendo Federation office in Budapest’s 7th district. It is conveniently located in the downtown area, making it easy to get around and within a short distance of tourist attractions. The office also provides accommodation.
